Dance expert Deanna McBreaty demonstrates the different positions of the body in ballet.
One body position is croise. This is a crossed position, facing the front corner. To your audience, it should appear that your legs are making an X position.
Another body position is efface. This is an open position facing the audience. You still want to be growing from your toes to your fingers.
Ecarte is on the front diagonal. Your head is up past your elbow.
In croise back, your head is down towards your lower arm.
Different body positions add dimension to your ballet performance. It allows for the upper body to be involved with the lower body and also allows you to move more freely.
