Dance expert Haley Moorse will explain the proper kick technique for open kicks.
One of the main things to think about while doing open kicks is to keep your upper body squared to the front. Both shoulders and hips should always be facing the front, not the side.
One of the most challenging components in an open kick is turning out your hip and closing it for every kick. You want to be cautious and be sure that for each kick you are turning out your hip to get a full extension, and then bring it back in to close completely with both toes together.
Another thing to think about is keeping both shoulders pressed back while kicking. Shoulders tend to twist the way one is kicking when doing opens.
It’s important to open your hips while kicking in order to help prevent injury and so you can kick to your fullest potiental.
