A straight kick is the most basic kick. In this video, dance expert Haley Moorse will explain the correct way to execute straight kicks.

There is a couple thing you always want to be aware of while doing a straight kick. One of the main things is to be aware of your hips and to make sure they are level. For your knees, you want to think about brushing a penny with your toe. By thinking about this, you will avoid the flicking motion with your knee.

Straight kicks should aim towards the nose, not the shoulder. Be aware of the upper body by squeezing shoulder blades together and pushing shoulders down as well. Your feet should also come together between every kick so it looks more clean throughout kick sets.
