A tap dancer should be knowledgeable in many tap dance terms. In this video, tap expert Kaleena Miller will teach about leap, hop and jump.

A leap, hop and jump are basic tap dance terms that focus on transferring weight. A jump is done on the balls of your feet with a bend in the knees. A leap is transferring your weight from one foot to the other. Different from a jazz leap where you want to get height and show your flexibility, a tap leap is simply just transferring your weight from side to side. A hop is done on just one foot. A hop should also be on the ball of your foot and from a slightly bent knee.
