If you are looking to dance in pointe shoes, watch this video for tips from ballet expert Deanna McBreaty. McBreaty recommends using a tap that will be easy to peel off to wrap around the toes that give you the most friction. For her, this includes the big toe, the pinky toe and the toe next to the pinky toe. This helps to prevent blisters. Next, she recommends folding paper towels around the toes to give a bit more cushion in the box of your pointe shoe. Once you put your foot in the shoe, wrap the ribbon around your ankle with a partially flexed foot. If you don’t flex, it will be difficult to do demi plies.
